#4 Chocolate Black Tea

May Flowers? No. May Chocolate.

Dear Faithful Disciples of the Steep,

You probably thought May’s tea would be something floral, didn’t you? Like, “Ooooh it’s spring! Let’s do lavender-chamomile with dried rose petals and name it after a woodland fairy.”

No. Absolutely not.

This month, we’re throwing a hard left turn right into the dessert cart. Because nothing says “celebrate the season of renewal” quite like Chocolate Black Tea.

Tea of the Month: Harney & Sons Loose Leaf Chocolate Black Tea

Yes, you read that right. It’s chocolate. In tea. Specifically: a rich, full-bodied black tea blended with cocoa nibs and chocolate flavoring that makes every sip feel like you’re having cake in liquid form—but make it cozy and adult-ish. This is a loose leaf tea, which means you’re now part of the fancy tea club that measures leaves with teaspoons like an actual apothecary. I’ve included disposable tea bags for your convenience (because I love you), but if you’re the kind of person who owns a tea diffuser shaped like a manatee, by all means, live your truth. Recommended brew:

  • One teaspoon per cup
  • Steep 5 minutes at just-boiled temperature
  • Add milk and sugar if you’re feeling extra indulgent (you are)

May your tea be rich, your diffuser not leak, and your chocolate cravings be momentarily satisfied.

Forever your cocoa-concocting companion,

Grand Poobah of Piping Hot Sips
