#6 Vanilla Bean Black Tea

A Birthday and the One That Started It All

Dear Devoted Drinkers of the Leaf,

This month, we’re making a shift. Not a big one, but a deliberate one. You see, while Harney & Sons has been the backbone of our tea journey (and a frequent flyer in your mailboxes), July calls for something a little different.

Because July, dear friends, is my birthday month. And what better time to return to the tea that started it all?

Tea of the Month: Mighty Leaf Vanilla Bean

Let’s rewind. Once upon a time, before I was forcing monthly teas upon innocent friends, before I declared myself your Tea Master, and long before there was a website or a logo or an official(ish) seal… there was Mighty Leaf Vanilla Bean. It was the first tea that made me pause and think, “Oh… this is different.”

It came in a silken sachet, with real leaves you could actually see—no sad, dusty fragments hiding in a wrinkled paper bag. It smelled like dessert. It steeped like a luxury. This wasn’t just tea. This was an experience. A small, fragrant moment of calm. A gentle nudge into the world of fancier brews and proper steeps. So this month, in celebration of my continued aging and our shared descent into tea snobbery, I’m sharing the blend that first made me fall in love with the ritual. Expect a smooth, rich vanilla black tea that’s warm and cozy, yet somehow refined. A little nostalgic. A little indulgent. Basically: me in tea form.

We’ll be back to new discoveries next month. But for now, raise your mugs in honor of birthdays, beginnings, and the perfectly smooth comfort of vanilla.

Steeped in sentiment (but not too much),
