#13 Lunar New Year Tea

A Year of Tea, a New Year of Fortune, and the Spirit of the Horse

Dear Lucky Thirteenth Steepers,

Somehow, against all odds and postal delays, we made it: BAMS Tea Club has officially been steeping for a full year.

Twelve months of surprise envelopes.

Twelve months of teas I liked (and a few I didn’t).

Twelve months of you humoring me.

And now, we mark our 1-year anniversary the only way we know how—with tea, trinkets, and a touch of thematic flair. Because it just so happens that our anniversary aligns beautifully with another major celebration: The Lunar New Year, and this year is none other than the Year of the Horse.

Tea of the Month: Harney & Sons Lunar New Year Tea

We’re sending it in traditional red envelopes (hongbao style), which in Chinese culture represent luck, blessings, and protection as we step into a new year. In addition to your tea, you’ll find a collection of horse-themed keepsakes, hand-packed with chaotic affection and ceremonial vibes:

  • Horse Charm Bracelet – A red thread bracelet featuring a horse charm to carry the energy of strength, freedom, and momentum into your year.
  • Horse Good Luck Charm – For hanging, carrying, or placing somewhere that needs a little extra fortune. Bonus points if it’s near your tea stash.

Whether or not you celebrate Lunar New Year traditionally, this month’s tea and treasures are meant to offer a fresh start, a deep breath, and a small reminder that we’re always growing—sometimes wildly, sometimes slowly, but always steeping in the good stuff together. So raise your mug to a year of BAMS, to the horse’s bold spirit, and to the fact that none of you have unsubscribed yet (which is suspiciously generous).

Here’s to courage, clarity, good luck, and lots more tea,

Galloper of Good Fortune
